Churches
Although there are currently only three fully-described
projects in this section, John Goom is inspecting architect 33 churches. Most only ever require minor works in response to a Quinquennial Inspection. However, others, as described below, require more significant work.
St
Mary's Berkeley
This remarkable
mediæval church has extensive wall decorations.
An extensive programme of conservation and
repair, being grant aided by English Heritage
and the Heritage Lottery Fund, is now underway |
Dore
AbbeyDore Abbey is one of
the architectural gems of the Welsh marshes.
Beautifully set in Herefordshire’s golden
valley, the church is an evocative monument to
850 years of history. |
Umberslade Baptist Chapel
Listed Grade II* the building has suffered from a lack of appropriate maintenance. In 2007/08 works were undertaken to repair sections of masonry, re-roofing and glazing repairs. |
